Avon and North Ridgeville Earn Weekly SWC Track and Field Honors

Following track meets on March 29th – April 4th track and field athletes of the week for the Southwestern Conference were announced this afternoon. Below are this week’s honorees:

Female Track and Field Athlete of the Week
Ally Rennette (Sr)
Avon
Competing at the Avon Lake Invitational over the weekend, Rennette finished first in the high jump (5 ft 4 in), fifth in the 400m dash (1:02.63) and helped the Eagle 4×400 relay team to a fifth place finish.

Male Track and Field Athlete of the Week
Erik Taylor (Sr)
North Ridgeville
The Ranger senior finished second at the Avon Lake Invitational in the high jump after clearing 5 feet 10 inches.

Amherst Steele Wins 2019 SWC Boys Track and Field Championship

SWC Results
Amherst Steele’s boys track and field team won the 2019 Southwestern Conference Track & Field Championships at Amherst on Friday. The Comets claimed four individual titles en route to the title.

Amherst Steele recorded 113 team points, while Berea-Midpark finished in second place with 102 points. Olmsted Falls finished third with 83 points, Avon Lake finished fourth with 79 points and Westlake followed with 77 points in fifth place.

The Comets earned their first-place finishes from Josh Hill in the 1600m run (4:22.43) and the 3200m run (9:34.40). Caleb Stempowski took the long jump title with a distance of 21-10.75 and the Comets 4x800m relay team of Devin Baumgartner, Bradley Kirsch, Hill and Ethan Barnes finished first with a time of 8:09.50.
