2022 Softball All-Southwestern Conference Honors

The Southwestern Conference announced the 2022 softball individual award winners and All-Southwestern Conference teams, as selected by the conference coaches. Amherst Steele’s Cassidy Kettleman was named the Most Valuable Player.  Amy McMillan of North Ridgeville was named this year’s Coach of the Year.

Berea-Midpark Earns Weekly SWC Softball Player of the Week Honors

Following games on April 4th – April 10th, the softball player of the week for the Southwestern Conference was announced this afternoon. Below is this week’s honoree:

Mallory Herwerden (Jr)
Berea-Midpark

The junior pitcher led the Titans to two conference wins (Avon Lake 14-4, Midview 3-1) last week. In her 10 innings of work between the two games, Herwerden struck out 19 batters, only walked two, gave up one hit and allowed zero earned runs.

Other Notable Performances

Cassidy Kettleman (Sr), Amherst Steele
In two conference wins last week, Kettleman was 5-for-5 with three runs batted in and two runs scored against Midview and Avon Lake.

Kaylee Kuwalu (Sr), Avon Lake
The Shoregals leadoff hitter had three singles and a double last week to go with her three runs batted in and two stolen bases.

Autumn Behlke (Jr), North Ridgeville
Behlke had a 0.625 average on the week with two home runs and five runs batted in.  In a two-inning save, the junior struck out five and only gave up one hit in North Ridgeville’s win over Elyria.
