The SWC awards 21 first team and 19 second team honors based on the the finishes at the SWC Championship. In addition, each school receives two honorable mention selections.

Amherst Steele wins 2024 SWC Cheerleading Championship

For the second time in four years Amherst Steele High School earned Grand Champions at the Southwestern Conference Cheerleading Championship. The Comets captured first place in both the Traditional and Game Day divisions at the 2024 event, which took place Monday (November 4) evening on the campus of Elyria High School.

Winners were crowned for both Game Day and Traditional Competition routines with the combined score making up the Overall Standings. The Overall Standings will help determine All-SWC, which will be announced at a later date.

The Comets, who last won the overall event in 2021, posted a Traditional Competition score of 89.05 and finished the Game Day Competition with 85.4 points for a combined score of 174.45 out of a possible 200 points. 2023 champion Midview High School placed second overall with 173 points, while Avon High School took third with 162.7 points.

Elyria to host 2024 SWC Cheerleading Competition on November 4

The 26th annual Southwestern Conference Cheerleading Competition will take place inside the Elyria High School Gymnasium on Monday (November 4) evening. Doors open for spectators at 5 p.m. and the event begins at 6 p.m.

Tickets are available exclusively online via HomeTown Ticketing at https://swcohio.net/tickets. Adult tickets are $10 and Student tickets are $5 (both have additional processing fees). Each school was given 100 tickets to sell via passcodes until October 31 at Noon. The remaining tickets will be available to the public beginning November 1 at 8 a.m.

There will be seven of the eight league schools competing Monday evening. Amherst Steele, Avon, Berea-Midpark and Midview have squads in both divisions, while Elyria, North Ridgeville and Olmsted Falls only have a Game Day squad.

Both the Traditional and Game Day scoring is out of 100 points. There will be a Game Day winner, a Traditional Comp winner and a Grand Champion that combines the scores of both divisions. The Jump-off and Tumble-off will also return in 2024. All-SWC will be announced at a later date.

Midview is the defending SWC Champions after earning the top score in the Traditional Competition category and taking second place in the Game Day division in 2023. Amherst Steele won the Game Day division for the first time a year ago.

Midview wins 2023 SWC Cheerleading Championship

For the second time in school history Midview High School earned Grand Champions at the Southwestern Conference Cheerleading Championship. The Middies also won their first ever Traditional Competition at the 2023 event, which took place Monday (November 6) evening on the campus of Berea-Midpark High School. Amherst Steele High School made history as well by taking home first place in the Game Day Competition division for the first time.

Winners were crowned for both Game Day and Traditional Competition routines with the combined score making up the Overall Standings. The Overall Standings will help determine All-SWC, which will be announced at a later date.

The Middies, who also earned Grand Champion in the spring of 2020-21, posted a Traditional Competition score of 86.7 and a second-place Game Day Competition finish with 90 points for a combined score of 176.7 out of a possible 200 points.

Amherst used an evening-best 95.1-point Game Day Competition routine and a 80.85 Traditional Competition performance to place second overall with 175.95 points. Avon High School, who scored an 85.1 in Traditional Competition and 86.6 in Game Day, finished third in the overall standings with 171.8 points. Berea-Midpark High School placed fourth in both Traditional Competition (77.5) and Game Day (85.2) to finish fourth in the standings. North Ridgeville High School (84.4) placed fifth and Olmsted Falls High School (72.0) was sixth in the Game Day Competition. Elyria High School (71.2) took fifth in the Traditional Competition.

Avon wins 2022 SWC Cheerleading Championship

Fueled by a first place performance in its Traditional Competition routine, Avon High School captured the 2022 Southwestern Conference Cheerleading Championship Monday (November 7) on the campus of North Ridgeville City Schools. Midview High School took home first place in the Game Day Competition division for a third straight season.

Winners were crowned for both Game Day and Traditional Competition routines with the combined score making up the Overall Standings. The Overall Standings will help determine All-SWC, which will be announced at a later date.

The Eagles posted a Traditional Competition score of 87.1 and a second-place Game Day Competition finish with 90.1 points for a combined score of 177.2 out of a possible 200 points.

Midview used an evening-best 91.8-point Game Day Competition routine and a 78.15 Traditional Competition performance to place second overall with 169.95 points. Amherst Steele High School, who scored an 79.45 in Traditional Competition and 78.4 in Game Day, finished third in the overall standings with 157.85 points. Berea-Midpark High School placed second in Traditional Competition (79.8) and sixth in Game Day (76.8) to finish fourth in the standings. Olmsted Falls High School (89.4) placed third and North Ridgeville High School (82.4) was fourth in the Game Day Competition. Avon Lake High School (73.4) took fifth in the Traditional Competition.

Tickets are available exclusively online via HomeTown Ticketing at Rangersathletics.com. All tickets are $7 plus processing fees. Each school was given 250 tickets to sell via a passcode until November 6 at 11:59 p.m. The remaining tickets will be available to the public beginning November 7 at 10 a.m.

Parking and Entrance Notes: Team buses will park behind the home side of the football field. This is the Board office parking and the visitor/staff parking (orange on the campus map). Teams will enter through the community entrance. On the campus map it is entrance 3 located on the North side of the NRAC. Spectator Parking will be available at the visitor/staff parking lot of the NRAC (purple on campus map) or the High School student/visitor parking lot (yellow on campus map). Spectators will enter through entrance 1 of the NRAC.
