Following soccer games on September 13th – September 19th the boys and girls soccer players of the week for the Southwestern Conference were announced this afternoon. Below is this week’s honorees:

Female Soccer Player of the Week
Katie Beatty (Sr)
Avon
Beatty had a monster game in Avon’s victory over North Ridgeville.  The senior forward scored twice and assisted on another, guiding the Eagles to their 3-0-0 start in the conference.

Other Notable Performances

Ella Grode (So), Avon Lake
Six points on the week for Shoregals’ Ella Grode.  The sophomore scored two goals and dished out two assists in victories over Bay Village, Midview and Shaker Heights.

Maddy Sagerman (Sr), Olmsted Falls
The Bulldogs are off to a 6-2-2 (3-1-0 SWC) start on the year and a lot of that has to do with the play of Sagerman.  The senior midfielder scored a goal in each of Olmsted Falls’ three wins last week as the Bulldogs defeated Howland, Elyria and St Vincent St Marys.

Male Soccer Player of the Week
Giuseppe Coreno (Sr)
Berea-Midpark
The senior recorded 7 points from his right back position last week as Berea-Midpark defeated Amherst Steele and Brecksville-Broadview Heights.  Coreno would score on a penalty kick and find the back of the net in the final 30 seconds to defeat the Comets.  On Saturday the senior would score the game winner to put Berea-Midpark up 4-3 in their win over the Bees.  This is Coreno’s third game winning goal in a row, four on the season.

Other Notable Performances

Sean Wilson (Jr), Avon
In three wins over Lake Catholic, North Olmsted and North Ridgeville, Wilson scored three times and dished out two assists as the Eagles move to 6-2-1 on the year.
