The Southwestern Conference released its Girls Soccer Athlete of the Week for August 21-26 this afternoon. Below is this week’s honoree:

Ella Grode
Avon Lake
Senior
Ella scored 6 goals and 1 assist in our 8-1 win over Brecksville. The 6 goals tied her own school record for most goals in a single game, and the 13 points is the most points scored in a single game in Avon Lake’s history. Ella also scored our lone goal in our 1-0 win over Shaker Heights, giving her a total of 7 goals and 1 assist on the week.
Other Notable Performances:
Kamille Coleman (Junior), Amherst
Had 4 goals and 2 assists in wins over Toledo Central Catholic and North Olmsted as well as a tie with Twinsburg and a loss to Rocky River so far this season.
Ariana Vakos (Senior), Avon
Scored 1 goal vs Brecksville-Broadview Heights, 2 vs Chagrin Falls and came out of goal and played the midfield with 20 minutes left to score a penalty kick vs Granville to tie it up. The goalkeeper/midfielder has scored a team-best 4 goals so far for the season.
Samantha Pebworth (Senior), Midview
Made her season debut Saturday and scored a hat trick against Loudonville
