Vote for the Southwestern Conference Player of the Week!

For the 2018-19 athletic year, the Southwestern Conference will hold a weekly poll here at swcohio.net where students, parents and fans can vote for the SWC conference player of the week!  Each week, athletic directors from around the conference will nominate one male and one female student-athlete from their school based off their athletic performances and accomplishments.  Voting will open on Mondays and close on Wednesdays.  Join us every week to vote for the most deserving performances!

SWC Female Athlete Player of the Week Nominees

Amherst – Lexy Alston (Jr) Soccer – Lexy scored three goals and recorded three assists in two SWC victories over North Ridgeville and Lakewood.

Avon – Alex Laboy (Jr) Volleyball – On the week Alex was 22 of 22 on serve receive with zero errors as well as 22 of 23 serving with 4 aces.

Avon Lake – Bianca Henline (Jr) Tennis – The #1 singles player for the Avon Lake Shoregals, Bianca went 3-1 on the week, defeating Lakewood, North Ridgeville and Elyria Catholic.

Berea-Midpark – Samantha Matese (Sr) Soccer – Samantha scored two goals on Saturday in the Titans 3-0 victory over Lakewood.

Lakewood – Eliza Richardson (Sr) Volleyball

Midview – Stephanie Sturgen (So) Soccer – Stephanie scored four goals and recorded five assists to help Midview to a 4-0 start, 2-0 in the conference.

North Olmsted – Alex Diamantis (Sr) Soccer – Alex helped open up the new North Olmsted Stadium with her goal in the season opening 1-0 victory over Painesville Riverside.

Olmsted Falls – Mackenzie Simon (Sr) Soccer – The senior goalie recorded 15 saves in two clean sheets over Avon and Westlake to begin SWC play.

Westlake – Erica Francesconi (Sr) Cross Country – Erica placed first in the SWC Preview Meet at Lorain County Community College with her time of 19:48.9

SWC Male Athlete Player of the Week Nominees

Amherst – Nathan Soto (Sr) Football – In a 33-0 win over Clearview, Nathan recorded 9 tackles, 2 TFLs, 2 receptions and 1 TD.

Avon – Ryan Poling (So) Soccer – The sophomore goalkeeper recorded 3 straight clean sheets, including several game saving saves to defeat Avon Lake 1-0.

Avon Lake – Konner Riggs (Sr) Football – Lead the Shoreman in rushing, gaining 125 yards on the ground and scoring two touchdowns.

Berea-Midpark – Ethan Bradt (Sr) Cross Country – The senior finished fifth in the SWC Preview Meet with a time of 17:49.7

Lakewood – Cormac Peppard-Kramer (Jr) Cross Country – Cormac finished 7th at the SWC Preview Meet with a time of 18:05.9

Midview – Andy Lewis (Sr) Golf – Shot a match-best 37 against Amherst and match-leading 38 against North Olmsted. Lewis ranked third in the SWC with a 4.9 “Score minus Course Rating” average.

North Olmsted – Sean Whelan (Jr) Cross Country – The first year cross country athlete placed third at the SWC Preview Meet with his time of 17:44.

Olmsted Falls – Teddy Grendzynski (Sr) Football – The senior quarterback went 10 of 13 passing on the night for 186 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 62 yards and three scores in the Bulldogs win over Brecksville-Broadview Heights.

Westlake – Will Fankhouser (Fr) Golf – Shot a 41 to lead Westlake over Avon Lake in a key SWC match.
