Following track meets on May 9th – May 15th the track and field athletes of the week for the Southwestern Conference were announced this afternoon. Below are this week’s honorees:
Female Track and Field Athlete of the Week
Katie Clute (Jr)
Olmsted Falls
Clute won four events at the Southwestern Conference Championship Meet last week. The junior set two meet records and broke two school records. Clute anchored the winning 4×800 relay team and won the 1600m run with a new meet and school record (4:51.99). She would set a school record in the 800m run (2:16) and an SWC Championship Meet record in the 3200 (10:45.81).
Other Notable Performances
Faith Kingsley (Sr), Berea-Midpark
Kingsley became a seven time SWC Champ on Friday after winning three events. The senior won both the 100m hurdles (15.09) and 300m hurdles (46.76) to go along with a win in the long jump (17-6.25) and a third place finish in the high jump (5-01)
Co-Male Track and Field Athletes of the Week
Colin Kaufmann (Sr)
Avon
Avon’s Kaufmann is now a two-time SWC Track and Field Athlete of the Week after his four event win performance at the conference championship meet. The senior won the 100m (11.08), 200m (22.19) and ran a leg on the winning 4×100 (42.37) which set a meet record and 4×200 (1:28.78) relay teams for Avon.
Drew Lindsey (Jr)
Avon
Like his Eagle teammate, Lindsey won four events last week at the Southwestern Conference Championship Meet. Lindsey ran on the winning 4×100 (42.37) and 4×200 (1:28.78) relay teams and also won the 110m hurdles (15.35) and 300m hurdles (41.15).
