Avon’s boys track and field team won the 2022 Southwestern Conference Track & Field Championships at Amherst on Friday. The Eagles claimed ten individual titles en route to the title.
Avon recorded 171 team points, while Berea-Midpark finished in second place with 115 points. Avon Lake finished third with 109.5 points, and North Ridgeville followed with 76 points in fourth place.
The Eagles earned their first-place finishes from Colin Kaufmann in the 100m dash (11.08), 200m dash (22.19) and Tommy Ptacek in the 400m dash (50.70). Drew Lindsey won both the 110m hurdles (15.35) and the 300m hurdles (41.15). Evan Schakel won both the shot put (52-08.5) and the discus (157-08) while Mike Yeager won the long jump after jumping 21-00. The Eagles won the 4×200 relay and the 4×100 relay of Ptacek, Kaufmann, Tim Conwell and Lindsey set the meet record winning in 42.37.
