Avon Lake and North Ridgeville Receive Weekly Swimming and Diving Awards

Following meets on December 13th – December 20th the boys and girls swimmers/divers of the week for the Southwestern Conference were announced this afternoon. Below are this week’s honorees:

Female Swimmer/Diver of the Week
Emma Schumm (Sr)
Avon Lake
Schumm has won all but one diving contest this winter, as the senior continues to shine for the Shoregals.  Last week against Elyria, Schumm had her best score of the season, posting a score of 247.5 against Elyria.

Other Notable Performances

Bridget Kurtzweil (Jr), Avon
Kurtzweil picked up two wins in Avon’s dual with Sandusky.  Over the weekend the Eagles competed at the Northwest Classic Meet in Bowling Green where Kurtweil picked up two more victories as well as some broken records.  She broke the meet record as part of the winning 200 Medley Relay team and broke the Avon High School record in the 200 IM.  The junior also finished second in the 100 backstroke and fourth in the 200 Freestyle Relay.

Andrew Margolin (Jr)
North Ridgeville
North Ridgeville’s Andrew Margolin set a new school record in the 400M Freestyle last week to etch his name into the Ranger record books.

Other Notable Performances

Nick Haven (Jr), Avon Lake
In the last three meets, Haven has won every one of his events and has helped the Shoremen relay teams to six first place finishes.
