Following tennis matches on August 16th – August 21st the girls tennis athlete of the week for the Southwestern Conference was announced this afternoon. Below is this week’s honoree:
Female Tennis Athlete of the Week
Autumn Korey (Fr)
Avon Lake
Freshman Autumn Korey is off to a hot start for the Shoregals, beginning the year 6-0, and finishing last week 3-0. In her three victories last week, Korey only lost four total games.
Other Notable Performances
Denver Johnson (So), Avon
Avon’s sophomore has started this fall 6-0, with key wins over Avon Lake, Kenston and Westlake. The Eagles are currently undefeated in the conference and 4-2 overall.
Faith Howell (Sr) / Priscilla Yard (Sr), Elyria
Beginning their first season in the SWC, Howell and Yard are already turning heads. The senior duo finished last week 3-0, including two wins over North Ridgeville and Olmsted Falls.
Bridget Moran (Sr) /Paige Moraco (Sr), Midview
Midview’s first doubles team of Moran and Moraco finished the week 3-0 against SWC opponents with wins over Amherst, Avon Lake and Berea-Midpark.
