Avon’s Smith Named SWC Boys Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week

The Southwestern Conference released its Boys Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week for January 8-14 this afternoon. Below is this week’s honoree:

Avon
Sophomore

Thomas swam four events against Akron Firestone, where he achieved best times in the 200 Freestyle and 50 Freestyle. He then won diving and swam three more events in helping to beat Amherst. He went even faster than the previous day in his 50 Free. Smith then placed 13th in the 87 school Northeast Classic in diving to help pace the Eagles at the meet as their high scorer.

Other Notable Performances:

Bilge Bayarbadrach (Sr.). Avon Lake
Helped win the IM while also setting a new personal record in the Backstroke against Westlake.

Tavion Moore (So.), Berea-Midpark
Won the diving competition against Olmsted Falls and scored his highest point total of 132.10.

Brady Mackert (Fr.), Olmsted Falls
Won the 50 Free, 100 Free and led off the 200 Free relay in a victory against Berea-Midpark park. He was just out touched as an anchor as the 400 Free relay, but had his lifetime best on his relay leg.
