Avon’s Molenaar Named SWC Girls Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week

The Southwestern Conference released its Girls Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week for January 8-14 this afternoon. Below is this week’s honoree:

Emma Molenaar

Emma won four events against Akron Firestone, three events against Amherst, and qualified for finals in all four of her swims at the Northeast Classic Invitational. She achieved lifetime best times in the 50 Free, 100 Fly, 100 Breast, and relays splits in the 50 Free and 100 Free this past week. Emma was also one of only 2 freshmen to qualify for finals in the 100 and 200 Freestyle events at the 87 team Northeast Classic Invitational.

Other Notable Performances:

Victoria Lustri (Jr.). Avon Lake
Won both of her events at the Westlake tri-meet on Friday.

Sydney Trella (Sr.), Berea-Midpark
Won the diving competition against Olmsted Falls with a score just shy of the school record.

Addie Mackert (Jr.), Olmsted Falls
Won the 200 Freestyle (lifetime best) and 100 Free while also anchoring the 200 Free Relay and the 400 Free Relay wins against Berea-Midpark.
