Avon Lake Repeats as SWC Boys Swimming and Diving Champions in 2022-23

Avon Lake High School won its second straight Southwestern Conference Boys Swimming & Diving Championship Saturday (January 28) on the campus of Cleveland State University. The Shoremen, who won their first outright league title in 21 years last season, dominated the field again by winning seven of the 12 events and compiling 416 points in 2023. Avon High School finished runner-up with 208 points, while Amherst Steele High School placed third with 198 points and Berea-Midpark High School took fourth with 168 points.

Avon Lake’s Joe Swain set a new SWC record while winning both the 200-yard IM (1:53.95) and 100-yard Butterfly (50.05). The previous records were 1:54.57 and 52.52, respectively.
