Avon Lake and North Ridgeville Earn Weekly SWC Track and Field Honors

Following track meets on May 2nd – May 8th the track and field athletes of the week for the Southwestern Conference were announced this afternoon. Below are this week’s honorees:

Female Track and Field Athlete of the Week
Elizabeth Manly (Jr)
Avon Lake
Manly won the 100 hurdles at the Bell Invitational at Rocky River High School with a time of 14.98.  The finish is both a meet and new Avon Lake record.  The junior finished second in the 300 hurdles (49.85) and helped the 4×100 relay team to a third place finish.

Other Notable Performances

Hannah Mahoney (Sr), Olmsted Falls
Mahoney ran the 400 leg of the distance medley, helping break the school and meet record at the Bulldog Relays this past weekend.  She was also a member of the first place shuttle relay team.

Male Track and Field Athlete of the Week
Tayo McLaughlin (Jr)
North Ridgeville
McLaughlin earned a first place finish in the 1600m run this weekend at the Vermilion Invitational.  The junior also ran a leg on the winning 4×800 relay team.
