Avon Lake wins SWC Boys Bowling Preview

Avon Lake High School used a game-best 932 opener and followed up with a 900 in game two to build a comfortable lead at the 2021-22 Southwestern Conference Boys Bowling Preview Sunday (December 12) at Roll House in North Olmsted. The Shoremen then withstood an Avon High School rally during the Baker games to finish ahead of their rivals with a 4026 pin total.

The SWC Preview was part of the larger 11th annual North Olmsted Eagle Challenge, which featured 24 schools rolling three traditional games and eight Baker games. Avon took runner-up with 3925 pins. Olmsted Falls High School placed third with 3810 pins, while Amherst Steele High School was fourth with 3689 pins and North Ridgeville High School took fifth with 3364 pins. Midview High School finished sixth with 3327 pins, while Elyria High School was seventh with 3327 pins.

Berea-Midpark High School did not participate in the event due to Covid-19 protocols. What impact that has on the overall championship will be decided at a later date. The SWC Championship is slated to take place at Nautical Lanes in Avon Lake on Sunday (February 13) at 9 a.m.

Ben Scheef (Olmsted Falls) finished as the league’s top individual bowler at the event. He rolled a Preview-best 246 game one and then a 203 and 210 for a 659 series. Finishing runner-up at the SWC Preview was Phillip Hock (Avon Lake) with a 625 series. Alex Fedyszyn (Midview – 556), Aiden Bedock (Elyria – 543) and Jacek Gomez (Avon Lake – 542) rounded out the top 5 performers at the event.
