Amherst Steele Captures SWC Girls Bowling Preview

Amherst Steele High School got stronger as the day moved on to easily win the 2021-22 Southwestern Conference Girls Bowling Preview Sunday (December 12) at Roll House in North Olmsted. The Comets rolled traditional games of 796, 831 and 903 as well as 1434 during the eight Baker games for a 3964 pin total.

The SWC Preview was part of the larger 11th annual North Olmsted Eagle Challenge, which featured 21 schools and was also won by Amherst Steele. North Ridgeville High School took runner-up at the SWC Preview with 2774 pins. Avon Lake High School placed third with 2749 pins, while Avon High School was fourth with 2392 pins and Midview High School took fifth with2382 pins. Olmsted Falls High School finished sixth with 2295 pins, while Elyria High School was seventh with 1457 pins.

Berea-Midpark High School did not participate in the event due to Covid-19 protocols. What impact that has on the overall championship will be decided at a later date. The SWC Championship is slated to take place at Nautical Lanes in Avon Lake on Sunday (February 13) at 9 a.m.

Kilee Falish (Avon) finished as the league’s top individual bowler and finished runner-up overall at the event. She rolled a 569 series, which included a game-best 211 opener. Finishing runner-up at the SWC Preview was Makayla Velasquez (Amherst Steele) with a 554 series. Allison Taylor (Amherst Steele – 539), Sabrina Stawicki (Amherst Steele – 514) and Delaney Condosta (Olmsted Falls – 513) rounded out the top 5 performers at the event.
