Amherst Steele wins 2023-24 SWC Boys Bowling Championship

Amherst Steele High School captured first place at the 2024 Southwestern Conference Bowling Tournament Sunday (February 11) at Spevock’s Nautical Lanes. The Comets also secured the overall league championship for a second straight season. [2024 SWC Tournament Results (PDF)]

Avon Lake High School’s Jacek Gomez was the individual medalist after finishing with a 727 series. Amherst’s Jon Roberts took runner-up with a 717 series, while Olmsted Falls High School’s Andrew Gutschow had the top single-game score with a 279.

Avon Lake (4,288) finished runner-up and Olmsted Falls (4,180) placed third at the event. Midview High School (3,972) was fourth, while Berea-Midpark High School (3,967), North Ridgeville High School (3,908) and Avon High School (3,748) rounded out the tournament standings. The SWC Tournament featured three regular games and six baker games.

Overall standings were determined by the records against each other during the North Shore Bowling Conference schedule (60%) as well as placement at the SWC Tournament (40%). Amherst and Olmsted Falls tied for first with a 6-1 record against the other SWC schools during the regular season.
