Following meets on November 29th – December 5th the boys and girls swimmers/divers of the week for the Southwestern Conference were announced this afternoon. Below are this week’s honorees:
Female Swimmer/Diver of the Week
Alex Downing (So)
Avon
Downing won all four of her events at the Chardon Hilltopper Invitational to help Avon to a team win in the 33 team field. The sophomore brook meet records in both the 100 Butterfly (58.09) and 50 Butterfly (26.29)
Other Notable Performances
Sierra Dorobek (Jr) Amherst Steele
The junior won both of her individual events and led both the 200 and 400 Freestyle relays to victories over Avon Lake and North Ridgeville this week.
Abby Calaway (Sr) Berea-Midpark
Calaway won all four of her individual events this week (200&100 Free) against Olmsted Falls (50 & 500 Free) and Avon Lake. The senior broke her school record in the 200 Freestyle and tied the school record in the 50 Freestyle.
Male Swimmer/Diver of the Week
Joe Swain (Jr)
Avon Lake
Swain won all of his events in back to back meets over a 20 hour span. The junior set a school record in the 100 Backstroke (53.25) and set a new Berea Pool record.
Other Notable Performances
Ethan Barker (Sr), Berea-Midpark
Barker helped Berea-Midpark defeat Olmsted Falls by winning his individual events (200 & 500 Freestyle) while swimming a vital leg in both winning 200 and 100 Freestyle relays. The senior won the 500 Freestyle against Avon Lake on Friday night.
Brady Link (So), Olmsted Falls
Link swam five different events over two meets. He won the 100 Backstroke and 200 IM against Berea-Midpark. Over the weekend he posted season best times in four events at the Chardon Hilltopper Invitational at Spire, including the 200 Freestyle, 100IM and the 100 Butterfly.
