Avon Wins 2021 SWC Boys Track and Field Championship

Avon’s boys track and field team won the 20201 Southwestern Conference Track & Field Championships at Amherst on Friday. The Eagles claimed nine individual titles en route to the title.

Avon recorded 183 team points, while Westlake finished in second place with 108 points. Berea-Midpark and Avon Lake finished tied for third with 96 points, and Amherst Steele followed with 53 points in fifth place.

The Eagles earned their first-place finishes from Colin Kaufmann in the 100m dash (11.08) and Jett Weiber setting a meet record in the 800m run (1:55.21). Hunter Maxey took the pole vault title, clearing a height of 14 feet.  The Eagles won both the shot put and discus throw with Luke Hamilton winning the shot put with a throw of 53-03.25 and Evan Schakel winning the discus throw after a toss of 149-04. The Eagles swept all four relay events.
