Westlake’s girls track and field team won the 2021 Southwestern Conference Track & Field Championships at Amherst on Friday. The Demons claimed four individual titles en route to the SWC Championships title.
Westlake recorded 121 team points, while Avon finished in second place with 117 points. Berea-Midpark finished third with 96 points, while Amherst Steele finished fourth with 81 points. Avon Lake finished fifth with 80 points.
The Demons earned their first-place finishes all on the track. Sophia Kontak earned the 100m crown, finishing in 12.88. Freshman Sarah Peer took the 800m title with her time of 2:19.15. In the two mile race, fellow freshman Stephanie Nivellini won after her time of 11:29.14. The girls 4x800m relay team of Ellie Irwin, Nivellini, Sydney Peer and Sarah Peer finished first with their time of 9:39.29.
