Berea-Midpark and Olmsted Falls Earn Weekly SWC Soccer Accolades

Following soccer games on August 30th – September 5th the boys and girls soccer players of the week for the Southwestern Conference were announced this afternoon. Below is this week’s honorees:

Female Soccer Player of the Week
Mia Maruna (Sr)
Berea-Midpark
Maruna helped Berea-Midpark go 3-0 on the week with wins over Western Reserve Academy, Elyria and Lakewood.  The senior forward recorded 8 points on the week with three goals and two assists.

Other Notable Performances

Liv Fain (Sr) , Amherst Steele
Fain posted two clean sheets in three games this week.  The senior goal keeper has only allowed one goal this season.

Bri Fitzpatrick (So), Olmsted Falls
Recording six points on the week, Fitzpatrick had two goals and two assists in the Bulldogs’ victory over Midview.

Male Soccer Player of the Week
Lucas Russell (Sr)
Olmsted Falls
Russel scored six goals in three games this past week, including three against St Edward High School.  The senior would also add two goals against Mayfield and a goal against Midview.

Other Notable Performances

Blake Kubasak (Jr), Amherst Steele
Kubasak had a six point week for the Comets, scoring once in Amherst Steele’s 3-2 victory over North Ridgeville and twice in their 2-0 non-conference victory over Holy Name.

Matthew Garu (Sr), North Ridgeville
North Ridgeville Senior Matthew Garu had seven points on the week, highlighted by two goals and an assist in the Ranger’s victory over Valley Forge.  Garu would also find the back of the net against Amherst Steele in conference play.
