Amherst Steele Wins 2020 Boys Cross Country Title

Amherst Steele secured its fifth Southwestern Conference Championship in boys cross country and first since 2004, tallying 31 points while seeing all five of its scoring runners finish in the top 15 at Lorain County Community College in Elyria.

Amherst Steele’s freshman Ty Perez earned its second individual Southwestern Conference Championship in three years, completing the 5K race in 16:21.9, six seconds faster than Avon’s Jett Wieber who finished second with a time of 16:27.9.  K.J. Mueller from Westlake crossed the finish line third with a time of 16:51.6.

Avon Lake finished second as a team with 63 team points while the Avon Eagles finished third with 68 team points.  Westlake (124) finished in fourth place with North Ridgeville (134) rounding out the top five teams.
