The conference player of the week poll is back! The Southwestern Conference will hold a weekly poll here at swcohio.net where students, parents and fans can vote for the SWC player of the week! Each week, athletic directors from around the conference will nominate one male and one female student-athlete from their school based off their athletic performances and accomplishments. Voting will open on Monday and close on Wednesdays. Join us every week to vote for the most deserving performances!

SWC Female Player of the Week Nominees
Amherst Steele – Amaya Stanton (Sr) Basketball – Through the first three games, Stanton is averaging 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 blocks per game.
Avon – Abby Liber (S0) Basketball – In two games last week, Liber is averaging 12.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals for the Eagles.
Berea-Midpark – Athena Sevastos (Jr) Basketball – Stepping up in the last three games, Sevastos is averaging 16.6 points a game including 20 points against Massillon Washington and a career high 21 points against Olmsted Falls on Saturday.
Midview – Alexis Qualls (Sr) Bowling – Averaged 190.5 to lead Midview (4-0) to a 2-0 league record this past week. She also guided the Middies to a runner-up finish at the Eagle Challenge and a top-finish in the SWC Preview. Individually, she finished sixth at the Eagle Challenge to earn All Eagle Challenge honors.
North Olmsted – Mary Bloomfield (Sr) Basketball – Bloomfield is averaging 11 points, four rebounds and an assist over her last three games.
North Ridgeville – Leia Smith (Sr) Basketball – Smith averaged 11.5 points per game and shot 46% from the field, 7 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists over two games last week.
Olmsted Falls – Kaila Lubowicz-Baher (Sr) Bowling – Led the team in series at the Eagle Challenge including a 171 game. The senior helped led the girls team to a top 10 finish in the Eagle Challenge in a field of 22 varsity teams.
Westlake – Gina Adams (Sr) Basketball – In two wins last week, Adams averaged 18 points, 5 rebounds, 3.5 steals and made 8 of 9 free throws in helping the Lady Demons improve to 4-0. A four-year starter, Gina eclipsed 1,000 career points in the season-opening win against Warrensville Heights.
SWC Male Player of the Week Nominees
Amherst Steele – Lavell Gibson (Jr) Wrestling – Gibson won the 220 lb weight class at the Cobos Insurance Classic hosted by Avon Lake.
Avon – Ty Daugherty (So) Wrestling – Daugherty went 5-0 at the Cobos Insurance Classic over the weekend as he was crowned champion.
Berea-Midpark – Josh Finkovich (Sr) Basketball – The senior is currently averaging 16.5 points and 7 assists a game, including a 24 point, 6 assist and 7 steal performance in the team’s victory over Olmsted Falls.
Midview – Daniel Bucknavich (Sr) Wrestling – The returning State Placer pinned his way to a second straight Solon Comet Heavyweight Title this weekend. Bucknavich went 4-0 with pins of 0:08, 2:32 and 1:18 while also earning a forfeit win.
North Olmsted – Shawn Donovan (Sr) Hockey – Donovan was named the MVP of the Normandy Tournament where he had 7 goals and 10 assists to help the Eagles capture the tournament championship.
North Ridgeville – Zach Orseno (So) Wrestling – Orseno took first in the 113lb weight class at the Cobos Insurance Classic. He claimed five victories, four by fall, including the quickest pin of the night with a time of six seconds, and a 9-6 decision in the championship.
Olmsted Falls – Keegan Skoczen (Sr) Bowling – Keegan led the team in series in Saturday’s loss and was one of two leaders in series as the team finished 6th out of 26 teams in the Eagle Challenge.
Westlake – Vinnie Corrado (Sr) Bowling – In Saturday’s match against Olmsted Falls, Corrado led the Demons with a two-game series of 449. In Sunday’s Eagle Challenge/SWC preview, he medaled with a 638 three game series, as Westlake finished 4th overall out of 26 teams and grabbed 1st place in the SWC preview among the 10 conference teams.
