Each month, the Southwestern Conference will recognize student-athletes who are excelling in the classroom as well as those who have demonstrated the highest levels of integrity and sportsmanship. For March the SWC recognizes the following student-athletes:
Scholar Athletes of the Month
Olivia Lengel
Senior
Avon Lake High School
Girls Soccer / Girls Track & Field
Olivia Lengel carries a 3.758 cumulative grade point average into her final semester. The English National Honor Society member is currently enrolled in AP Environmental Science, AP US Government and Politics, AP Psychology, CC+ English, Honros Abnormal Psychology and Honors Spanish 3.
Lengel, a captain of both soccer and track & field, is an active member of PEP Club, SADD, MIND Club and ROX Leadership Group. She has volunteered at the Hospitality Center, ALSO Soccer Camp, Youth Track Camp, Avon Lake Library Haunted Basement and as a elementary school tutor.
Brandon Porr

Boys Swimming
Brandon Porr carries a 4.38 cumulative grade point average into his eighth semester. The AP Scholar with Honors and Presidents Award for Excellence Award winner is currently enrolled in AP Calculus, AP Research, AP Literature, AP Statistics and AP Psychology while also being an Athletic Office Aid. Porr is also a member of Key Club and National Honors Society.

Brandon Poore is a member of the National Honors Society and English Honor Society as well as a Student Ambassador. He volunteers with his church group, a new student mentor and at the Glen Mary Missionary summer camp.

He strives to perform to the best of his ability whether on the lanes bowling or academically at school. It has been an honor and privilege to watch him grow over these past four years!”

Grace Grove

Girls Swimming
Grace Grove is a four-time varsity letter winner. She won four individual and relay titles, including back-to-back championships in the 500 Free as a junior and senior, a 200 Free title as a senior, and a victory in the 400 Free Relay this winter.
A two-time OHSAA Division I State Qualifier in the 500 Free, she finished 27th as a junior and 31st as a senior. Grace is also the school record holder in the 500 Free with a time of 5:16.15, set at the 2024 OHSAA Division I District Meet at Bowling Green State University.
Grace, the Girls Swimming Southwestern Conference Scholar-Athlete, will continue her academic and swimming career at Canisius College, where she will major in Criminal Justice.
