Each month, the Southwestern Conference will recognize student-athletes who are excelling in the classroom as well as those who have demonstrated the highest levels of integrity and sportsmanship. For December the SWC recognizes the following student-athletes:
Scholar Athletes of the Month
Maddie Cerovac
Senior
Olmsted Falls High School
Girls Basketball
Maddie Cerovac carries a 3.93 cumulative grade point average into her seventh semester. The National Honor Society, National Math Honor Society and National Science Society member is currently enrolled Honors Anatomy and Physiology, AP Psychology and CCP Exercise Science.
Cerovac is also a member Helping Hands and is a Student Ambassador. She plans to continue her basketball career at Walsh University .

Will Schnabel
Senior
Avon Lake High School
Boys Wrestling
Will Schnabel carries a 4.37 cumulative grade point average into his eighth semester. The National Honor Society and Honor Roll member is currently enrolled AP Physics, AP Calculus, AP Economics, AP Literature and Intro to Manufacturing.
Schnabel has also been a member of the Cross Country, Boys Golf, Track and Field, Baseball and Football programs while also competing in Freestyle and Greco Wrestling. Outside of sports he is active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the United Church of Christ Youth Group, having participated in three week-long summer mission trips throughout the US.

Prince Tran
Senior
Amherst Steele High School
Boys Golf / Boys Volleyball
Prince Tran earned seven varsity letters during his high school career, excelling in both Boys Golf and Boys Volleyball.
In golf, Price was named the 2023 Southwestern Conference MVP and played a key role in the Back-to-Back SWC Championship Teams in 2023 and 2024. A two-time All-SWC First Team selection, Prince also contributed to three team school records: an 18-hole score of 295, a 9-hole par-35 score of 140, and a 9-hole par-36 score of 139.
As a volleyball player, Prince was an integral member of the first Boys Volleyball team to compete under OHSAA sanction. Over three seasons, he served as a team leader, helping establish the foundation of the program.
Following high school, Amherst’s Boys Golf SWC Scholar-Athlete and President of Student Council plans to attend the United States Naval Academy to pursue a degree in Medical Field or to become a Pilot.
Elly Huron
Senior
Avon High School
Diving
Elly Huron is a phenomenal ambassador for the sport of diving. She encourages not only her teammates but her competitors to do their best. Elly constantly has a smile on her face cheering both the divers and the swimmers at every meet and practice. She truly wants all of her teammates and competitors to do their absolute best and helps new athletes master skills to progress further in the sport.
In addition to diving, Elly is the Treasurer of Model UN and an active member of Key Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Avon Future Scholars of Medicine Club and National Honor Society. She volunteers as an ambassador at the Cleveland Clinic and as a diving coach in both Avon and Berea while also tutoring her fellow students in Biology, Chemistry, Math and Spanish.
