Avon and Avon Lake both finished the football regular season Friday night earning a share of the 2018 SWC Football Championship.
Avon Lake traveled to Grafton, Ohio where they defeated the Midview Middies 45-7 behind the efforts of senior running back Konner Riggs who rushed for 234 yards and three touchdowns. The Shoremen finished the regular season 8-1 in the SWC and 9-1 overall. Avon Lake will host fellow Southwestern Conference School Olmsted Falls High School on Friday November 2nd in the opening round of the Division 2 Region 6 OHSAA Football Playoffs
Avon grabbed a share of its third straight SWC Football title with its 77-47 victory over visiting Berea-Midpark. Junior running back Nick Perusek (4 touchdowns) and senior quarterback Ryan Malloy (4 passing touchdowns, 2 rushing touchdowns) led the Eagles to the impressive victory. The Eagles finished the regular season 8-1 in the SWC and 9-1 overall. Avon will host Springfield High School on Friday November 2nd in the opening round of the Division 2 Region 6 OHSAA Football Playoffs.
