Following games on April 25th – May 1st, the softball player of the week for the Southwestern Conference was announced this afternoon. Below is this week’s honoree:

Rachel Miller (Sr)
Amherst Steele
Miller helped the Comets to a 3-0 record against SWC opponents this week and battled against the area’s top teams in the Prebis Tournament. The senior was 12-of-19 from the plate on the week with four home runs, a triple, three doubles, 15 runs batted in and nine runs scored.
Katie Barnhart (Sr)
North Ridgeville
In the circle for the Rangers, Barnhart was 2-1 on the week with an earned run average of 0.700. The senior had 31 strikeouts. Offensively, Barnhart hit .478 with 11 hits, three doubles and a home run.
Other Notable Performances
Kaylee Kuwalu (Sr), Avon Lake
Kuwalu was 5-of-16 from the plate for the Shoregals this past week, with a home run, a triple, two doubles and three runs batted in. She scored six runs and snagged four stolen bases on the week.
Grace Forgach (Fr), Berea-Midpark
The freshman third basemen has stepped up big for the Titans. She was 11-of-22 with a double, three home runs, 12 runs batted in and seven runs scored on the week.
Moran Palos (Fr), Elyria
Elyria’s freshman Morgan Palos had a big week, including a game where she hit three triples. Palos was 11-for-21 with two home runs, three triples, a double, seven runs batted in and seven runs scored.
Bri Fitzpatrick (So), Olmsted Falls
Fitzpatrick was 9-of-12 from the plate this week with a slugging percentage of 1.000. She had three doubles, seven runs batted in and scored eight times for the Bulldogs.
