ELYRIA, Ohio – Avon High School captured the 2025 Southwestern Conference Girls Cross Country Championship Saturday (October 11) on the campus of Lorain County Community College. Avon senior Kaitlyn Reese captured the SWC individual title for the second straight year. She covered the 5,000-meter course in 17:59.72. Reese finished runner-up her first two seasons.
Five of Reese’s teammates finished in the top 10 to help the Eagles compile a league-best 21 team points. Junior Ava Melott (19:56.57) placed third for the third year in a row, while senior Jessica Pendleton (19:57.73) was fourth, senior Olivia Pajak (20:01.06) was fifth, senior Julianna Stein (20:19.51) and sophomore Molly Suter (20:28.73) placed ninth.
Olmsted Falls High School, which was paced by junior runner-up Abby Thompson (19:53.38), finished runner-up as a team with 68 points, while Amherst Steele High School took third with 71 points.
