Southwestern Conference Sportsmanship and Scholar-Athletes of October

Each month, the Southwestern Conference will recognize student-athletes who are excelling in the classroom as well as those who have demonstrated the highest levels of integrity and sportsmanship. For October the SWC recognizes the following student-athletes:

Scholar Athletes of the Month

Katherine Low
Senior
Amherst Steele High School
Girls Cross Country / Girls Track & Field

Katerine Low carries a 4.647 cumulative grade point average into her fifth semester and is currently ranked second in the class of 2025. The National Honor Society member is currently enrolled in all CCP classes. Her school load has included US History, English Composition, Chemistry, Calculus, American Government, Spanish, Intro to Fiction and Intro to Mythology.

Low, the school’s SWC Scholar-Athlete for cross country, was named Academic All-Ohio by the OATCCC in 2023 and has been a High Honors recipient throughout her career.

Ben Frazier
Senior
Olmsted Falls High School
Boys Cross Counry / Boys Swimming / Boys Track & Field

Ben Frazier carries a 4.5 cumulative grade point average into his fifth semester. The National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Math Honor Society and Science Honor Society member is enrolled into AP Physics, AP Psychology, AP Calculus, CCP Spanish and Personal Finance. In addition to sports, he is an active member of Students Against Destructive Decisions and LLS.

“Ben is a consistent force during workouts and on the cross country courses we race. He is a dedicated multi-sport athlete and he has a solid work ethic that he carries into the classroom.”

Sportsmanship Athletes of the Month


Colin Fales
Senior

Avon High School
Football / Boys Track & Field

Colin Fales is active in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Avon Future Scholars of Medicine club and Key Club. He has participated in Cleveland Hope Exchange, Avon’s Football Big Brother program, FCA All Abilities Camp and Night to Shine. Colin also volunteers bi-weekly at the kids ministry at Journey Church.

“Colin is one of the greatest servant leaders to ever play for the Avon Eagles. On a daily basis, he puts the best interest of the TEAM before his own individual success. Colin was voted as a TEAM captain for the 2024 football TEAM despite the fact that he is not in our two-deep as a player. Colin does contribute on special TEAMS, Challenge TEAMS and as an additional Coach to our younger players. Colin is in the TOP 1% of players I have coached in my 32-year career when it comes to being a great teammate.”
