Avon Girls Four-peat at 2024 SWC Cross Country Championship

ELYRIA, Ohio – Avon High School captured the 2024 Southwestern Conference Girls Cross Country Championship Saturday (October 12) on the campus of Lorain County Community College. It is the Eagles’ fourth straight league title. [Complete Results]

Avon junior Kaitlyn Reese captured the SWC individual title with a time of 18:28.21. She finished runner-up the previous two seasons.

Four of Reese’s teammates finished in the top 8 to help the Eagles compile a league-best 21 team points. Sophomore Ava Melott (20:24.27) placed third for the second year in a row, while senior Carolina Reed (20:27.25) was fourth, junior Olivia Pajak (20:27.64) was fifth and senior Anika Singh (20:50.50) placed 8th.

Amherst Steele High School placed second as a team with 63 points. Olmsted Falls High School and Berea-Midpark High School both finished with 98 points but the Bulldogs won the sixth score tie-breaker 33 to 36.

Berea-Midpark junior Ana Buehrer (20:11.34) was the individual runner-up. Amherst Steele senior Katherine Low (6th / 20:41.02) and Olmsted Falls senior Abby Thompson (7th / 20:42.58) also earned All-SWC first team honors, which goes to the top 8 finishers.
