Avon Lake wins 2024 SWC Girls Golf Championship

Avon Lake High School secured the 2024 Southwestern Conference (SWC) Girls Golf Championship Thursday (September 26) afternoon. It is the second straight title for the Shoregals. [Tournament Results (PDF)]

Avon Lake, who took runner-up the SWC Preview and won the SWC Regular Season (11-0), clinched the overall title with a victory at the SWC Tournament on the Springvale Golf Course. The Shoregals were fueled by three top-7 finishes and compiled 357 strokes. Olivia Tobin earned medalist honors with an 81. Lily Dorsey placed third with an 87 and Julia Skelton took seventh with a 93.

North Ridgeville High School’s Gianna Betonte finished runner-up with an 82, Amherst Steele High School’s Charlie Supers was fourth with an 89, Avon High School’s Ava Furiga placed fifth with a 90, and Midview High School’s Leah DiFranco rounded out the top six with a 91.

Avon finished second at the SWC Tournament with a 375, while Berea-Midpark High School and Olmsted Falls High School tied for third with 405 strokes.

The overall team champion is determined 30% by the SWC Preview, 30% by the SWC regular season and 40% by the SWC Tournament.
