Amherst Steele High School captured the 2024 Southwestern Conference Boys Golf Tournament, which took place under summer-like conditions on Thursday (September 19) at Grey Hawk Golf Club. The Comets had four golfers finish in the top 10 to accumulate 313 total points. As a result, Amherst Steele also won the overall championship for the second straight season.
Amherst was paced by co-runner-up senior Michael Haddix, who finished with a four-over-par 76. Senior Prince Tran (78) tied for fifth, while senior Jacob Sprinkle (79) tied for 7th and sophomore Jaxson Yoder (80) tied for 10th.
Avon High School senior Tommy Urbancic was the individual medalist after shooting a 2-over 74. He helped the Eagles place second as a team with 319 points. Olmsted Falls High School junior Cole Odin (76) also tied for second, while Avon Lake High School junior Kollin Nilson took fourth.
Olmsted Falls (326), Avon Lake (331), North Ridgeville High School (336), Berea-Midpark High School (383), Midview High School (344) and Elyria High School (387) completed the team standings.
The 2024 All-SWC Teams will be announced following the conclusion of the regular season, which has one make-up match yet to be played and is rescheduled for Monday.
