Avon wins 2024 SWC Boys Golf Preview

Amherst Steele High School senior Jacob Sprinkle shot a three-over-par 75 to lead a field of 47 golfers at the 2024 Southwestern Conference (SWC) Boys Golf Preview, which took place Monday (August 12) from the white tees of Pine Hill Golf Course.  [2024 SWC Boys Golf Preview Results]

Avon High School used its depth to once again hold off Amherst for the team title. The Eagles had four top-10 finishers. Tim Mai posted a 78, while Wyatt Austin and Zack Snyder added a 79 and Tommy Urbancic contributed an 80 to give the Eagles a total score of 316.

The Comets had the top two finishers in Sprinkle and Prince Tran, who shot a 77. Alek Kissame also finished in the top 10 with an 80, while Jordan Miller and Michael Hasddix tied for 21st with an 86 to give Amherst a score of 318.

Avon Lake High School (322) finished third. The Shoremen were paced by Grady Pellegrini with a 79 and Kollin Nilson with an 80. Berea-Midpark High School (334) placed fourth and were led by Oliver Marcelo with an 80.

Olmsted High School (337) took fifth place, while Midview High School (345), North Ridgeville High School (348) and Elyria High School (409) rounded out sixth through eighth place at the Preview, which accounts for 20% of the overall SWC standings.

The SWC regular-season, which has each team playing each other head-to-head once, is also worth 20%, while the Midview Invitational on September 3 at Columbia Hills Country Club and the SWC Championship on September 19 at Grey Hawk Golf Club are both worth 30%.
