Avon High School teammates Kylie Kittrell and Reese Thomas shot a seven-over-par 42 to lead a field of 42 golfers at the 2024 Southwestern Conference (SWC) Girls Golf Preview, which took place Monday (August 5) from the red tees of Springvale Golf Course front nine. Avon held off rival Avon Lake High School for the team title. Emma Fitch posted a 44, while Abby Owens added a 50 to give the Eagles a total score of 178.
The Shoregals had the top four top-ten finishers. Olivia Tobin shot a 44 and Sammy Kennedy had a 45, while Moira McGintu and Morgan Peachman both contributed a 46 to give Avon Lake a score of 181.
Olmsted Falls High School (195) edged Berea-Midpark High School (196) for third place. The Bulldogs were paced by Addison Mullen with a 43 and the Titans by Miranda Haneberg with a 45.
Midview High School (207) took fifth place, while Amherst Steele High School (211) and North Ridgeville High School (237) wrapped up the team standings at the Preview, which accounts for 20% of the overall SWC standings.
The SWC regular-season, which has teams playing each other head-to-head twice, and the 18-hole SWC Championship, back at Springvale on September 26, are both worth 40%.
