Each month, the Southwestern Conference will recognize student-athletes who are excelling in the classroom as well as those who have demonstrated the highest levels of integrity and sportsmanship. For May the SWC recognizes the following student-athletes:

Maddie Betz

Girls Cross Country / Girls Track & Field
Maddie Betz carries a 4.79 cumulative grade point average into her final semester. She is has taken College Anatomy and Physiology, College Composition and Writing, AP Calculus, AP Statistics, AP Psychology, AP Research, AP Seminar, AP Biology, AP Literature and AP Government. Maddie, a member of the National Honor Society, was named Academic All-Ohio in 2023 and will graduate with a Cap Stone diploma.
Jacob Platner

Baseball / Boys Golf
Jacob Platner carries a 3.81 cumulative grade point average into his final semester. The National Honor Society member is enrolled into AP Calculus, CCP Accounting, CCP Composition, CCP Basic Human Nutrition, Personal Finance and CCP Civilization. Jacob is a Student Ambassador and two-year captain of the baseball team.

Boys Track and Field / Boys Cross Country / Boys Soccer
Devin Ramirez carries a 4.44 cumulative grade point average into his final semester. The US Naval Academy enlistee is currently enrolled in AP Physics, AP Chemistry, AP Calculus and AP Literature. Devin is an AP Scholar, National Honor Society member, SWC Scholar-Athlete and was named Academic All-Ohio in Soccer and Track and Field. He is also active in Leo Club and Orchestra.

Kayley Thompson

Softball / Girls Cross Country
Kayley Thompson is the epitome of a Sportswoman. Win or lose, she is complementary to her teammates and her opponents. She is kind and caring to everyone she encounters. Kayley has the type of character that we want all our athletes to emulate.
Kayley is active in National Honors Society, Model United Nations, Students Who Value the Environment, Leo Club, leader of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the prom planning committee, and multiple volunteer organizations.
Kayley has worked with Three Outs softball, Avon softball, and Little League softball in helping further the developmental skills of softball girls through coaching and camps. She has worked as a team leader through the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to raise over $30,000 dollars towards patient support. Kayley has participated in many events with the Keffers to help raise money for the Kaleb Keffer Scholarship campaign. She has also worked with Leo Club and NHS in participating in volunteer opportunities such as food drives, library events, and at the nursing home.
