The Southwestern Conference released its Gymnastics Athlete of the Week for January 9-15 this afternoon. Below is this week’s honoree:

Carley Abbott
Olmsted Falls
Senior
Abbott was the All-Around Champion (35.85) against Avon Lake. She broke the school record for bars (9.5) while winning that event and also placed first in the Vault (8.85) and Beam (8.50) while taking second on the Floor (9.0).
Other Notable Performances
Maiya Agnew (Junior), Berea-Midpark
Finished second in the All-Around and Floor, third on Vault and Beam and fifth on Bars against Chagrin Falls and Aurora on Wednesday.
Alyssa Powers (Sophomore), North Ridgeville
Placed third on Floor, tenth on Bars and Beam and eighth in the All-Around at the six-team competition on Sunday. A huge highlight for Alyssa was competing her Yurchenko vault for the first time this high school season!
