The Southwestern Conference released its Girls Cross Country Athlete of the Week for September 19-24 this afternoon. Below is this week’s honoree:

Sam ran a personal-best, breaking 19 minutes for the first time (18:57.63) to place 9th overall at the Strongsville Invitational. It is the second week in a row she finished in the top-10 in a competitive invitational.
Other Notable Performances
Alaina Alflen (Freshmen), Amherst Steele
Alflen ran a season’s best 21:22 to finish as the Comets’ #5 runner at Cloverleaf, her first time scoring for the varsity.
Grace Henely (Junior), Midview
Henely placed 8th overall at the Patriot Invitational.
