Midview’s Robinson and Avon’s Reese named SWC Runners of the Week

The Southwestern Conference released its Boys and Girls Runner of the Week for August 22-26 this afternoon. Below is this week’s honoree:

Boys Cross Country Runner of the Week

Junior
Robinson began the week with a runner-up finish after crossing the line in a career-best 16:35 at the Keystone Icebreaker on Monday, where the Middies finished second place overall. He followed that performance up with a fifth-place finish (16:43) at Kenston’s Frank Gibas Invitational on Saturday. Midview took seventh at that event.

Other Notable Performances

Ty Perez (Senior), Amherst Steele
Perez led the Steele Boys Cross Country Team to a seventh place finish out of 26 teams at the GlenOak Invitational on Saturday. He crossed the line in 16:44, which placed him eighth out of 223 runners.

Girls Cross Country Runner of the Week
Kaitlyn Reese
Avon
Freshmen
Reese placed third out of 193 runners at the Riverside Kickoff Classic NIGHT Invitational, leading her team to the overall championship. She set a new school record (18:24.68) and is currently the top freshmen in Ohio (sixth in the nation) according to the most recent MileSplit rankings.

Katie Clute (Senior), Olmsted Falls
Clute won the Solon Comet Run Invitational with a new meet record time of 18:10.5.

Aurora Wilson (Senior), Amherst Steele
Wilson ran 19:57 to finish 23rd at the Riverside Classic NIGHT Invitational.
