Following games on May 2nd – May 8th, the baseball player of the week for the Southwestern Conference was announced this afternoon. Below is this week’s honorees:
Co-Baseball Players of the Week
Gavin Ehrhardt (Jr)
Avon
The Avon ace tossed a complete game no-hitter with nine strikeouts against Midview in the Eagles’ 4-0 victory. On the week, Ehrhardt had a .571 average from the plate with 5 RBI and 2 runs scored.
Nic Chernitsky (Jr)
Elyria
The second no-hitter of the week in the SWC, Chernitsky punched out five and gave up zero walks in the Pioneers victory over Amherst Steele. Chernitsky needed only 76 pitches for the victory.
Other Notable Performances
Perry Miller (Sr), Avon Lake
In a makeup game with Berea-Midpark last week, Miller was dominant on the hill. The senior struckout seven and only gave up three hits in a complete game.
Adam Bright (Jr), North Ridgeville
Bright had a .500 average for the week with a double, five RBI, four runs, five walks and swiped two bags. On the mound, the Ranger junior pitched five innings, striking out seven.
