Berea-Midpark Earns Weekly SWC Softball Player of the Week Honors

Following games on April 18th – April 24th, the softball player of the week for the Southwestern Conference was announced this afternoon. Below is this week’s honoree:

Sam Smearman (Sr)
Berea-Midpark
Monster week for the Titans shortstop who had an average of .786 on the week with 12 RBI and eight runs scored.  Smearman had a slugging percentage of 1.500 and on base percentage of 0.824.  She had 11 hits, four doubles, two home runs (including a grand slam) on the week.  She was a perfect 7-for-7 at the plate in two games against Normandy over the weekend.

Other Notable Performances

Nevaeh Sadler (Fr), Amherst Steele
The Comet freshman was 11-for-17 on the week with eight runs scored, guiding Amherst to four wins.

Emily Lime (Sr), North Ridgeville
Lime led the Rangers in hitting on the week (.474 avg) with nine hits and six RBI in five games.  The senior laid down the game winning squeeze bunt in a key SWC win over Avon.

Alanna Tighe (Jr), Olmsted Falls
The Bulldog junior was 5-of-11 from the plate last week with an on base percentage of 0.600.  Tighe was asked and gladly stepped up to play three different positions for Olmsted Falls, including a stint behind the plate at catcher.
