Following games on March 28th – April 3rd, the softball player of the week for the Southwestern Conference was announced this afternoon. Below is this week’s honoree:

Kayla Dykin (Sr)
Avon
Off to a red-hot start to the 2022 spring campaign, Dykin is currently 3-0 when she takes the rubber. In her 20 innings pitched, the senior has 40 strikeouts and only allowed 1 walk and zero runs. In a six inning shutout of Avon Lake, Dykin gave up one hit and struck out 16 of 19 batters faced. From the plate, she is hitting .385 on the year with one home run and four runs batted in.
Other Notable Performances
Sam Peterkoski (Jr), Berea-Midpark
The leadoff slapper from Berea-Midpark is currently hitting .438 this Spring with five singles and two doubles. The speedster has snagged three bags on the year and scored six times for the Titans.
Katie Barnhardt (Sr), North Ridgeville
Shutting out Amherst last week, Barnhardt allowed two hits in five innings while striking out seven. In three games at the plate, she is hitting .444 with every hit being an extra base hit (1 double, 2 triples, 1 home run).
