Following games on January 17th – January 23rd the boys and girls basketball players of the week for the Southwestern Conference were announced this afternoon. Below are this week’s honorees:
Female Basketball Player of the Week
Mary Meng (Jr)
Midview
Meng grabbed a school record 28 rebounds Saturday in Midview’s victory over Berea-Midpark. The junior scored 13 points to add to her 16th double double of the season.
Other Notable Performances
Brynn Bondar (Jr), Avon Lake
Shoregals’ Brynn Bondar scored 24 points and was 6-of-8 on 3-pointers with three steals in their game against Solon. In a match-up with Amherst Steele, the junior scored 11 points, grabbed four rebounds and had three more steals.
Danielle Cameron (So), Olmsted Falls
In the Bulldogs’ victory over Avon, Cameron scored 26 points to go along with her eight rebounds and two steals. The sophomore was 6-of-10 from beyond the arc.
Male Basketball Player of the Week
Austin Bray (Sr)
Amherst Steele
In the Comets’ lone game last week, Bray scored 23 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to complete the double double. The senior guard was 11 of 13 from the free throw line.
Other Notable Performances
Luke Dieckman (Sr), Olmsted Falls
Defeating the Avon Eagles this past week, Dieckman worked a double-double by scoring 18 points for Olmsted Falls to go along with his 10 rebounds.
