Berea-Midpark and Midview Earn SWC Weekly Basketball Honors

Following games on January 24th – January 30th the boys and girls basketball players of the week for the Southwestern Conference were announced this afternoon. Below are this week’s honorees:

Female Basketball Player of the Week
Olivia DiFranco (So)
Midview

DiFranco scored 50 points on the week in three wins for the Middies.  The sophomore guard scored 28 points in Midview’s win over Avon Lake

Other Notable Performances

Sarai Kittelberger (S0), Avon
Avon’s sophomore post player nearly averaged a double-double last week posting an average of nine rebounds and seven points in three games last week for the Eagles.

Paige Kohler (Jr), Olmsted Falls
Kohler averaged 13 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals last week in games against North Ridgeville, Elyria and Akron Hoban.

Male Basketball Player of the Week
Owen Trzebuckowski (Jr)
Berea-Midpark
Trzebuckowski broke a Berea-Midpark school record, hitting eight 3-pointers in the Titans’ victory over Amherst Steele Friday night.  He finished the night with 27 points.  The junior guard scored 20 on Tuesday night against Avon Lake, where he was 5-of-8 from distance.  He capped the week off with three more 3-pointers (11 points) in limited minutes in Berea-Midpark’s win over Lincoln West.

Other Notable Performances

Jake Boynar (Jr), North Ridgeville
The North Ridgeville junior scored 22 points, grabbed nine rebounds and had three steals in the Rangers’ win over Avon.  Boynar would then drop 20 points, haul in seven rebounds and collect two more steals in their contest with Bay.

Luke Dieckman (Sr), Olmsted Falls
In the Bulldogs’ 64-55 win at Elyria on Friday, Dieckman scored 24 points had 10 rebounds and three steals.  Tuesday night, the senior had 21 points, grabbed nine rebounds, dished out four assists to go with his three steals in a 73-59 victory over North Ridgeville.
