Following meets on January 24th – January 30th the boys and girls swimmers/divers of the week for the Southwestern Conference were announced this afternoon. Below are this week’s honorees:
Female Swimmer/Diver of the Week
Alex Downing (So)
Avon
Downing broke three Southwestern Conference meet records on her way to winning four events and leading the Eagles to a team championship. She broke the 100 fly, the 100 back and was on a record breaking 200 medley relay team. She was also a member of Avon’s winning 400 free relay team.
Male Swimmer/Diver of the Week
Joe Swain (Jr)
Avon Lake
Swain was instrumental in clinching the decisive SWC championship win. Broke the SWC meet record and school record in both of his individual events 200 free (1:43.04) and 100 backstroke (52.04). Avon Lake won the team conference title outright for the first time in 21 years.
