Amherst Steele, Midview and North Ridgeville Earn SWC Weekly Basketball Honors

Following games on January 3rd – January 9th the boys and girls basketball players of the week for the Southwestern Conference were announced this afternoon. Below are this week’s honorees:

Co-Female Basketball Player of the Week
Mary Meng (Jr)
Midview
Meng scored 23 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, blocked six shots and had four steals in Midview’s victory over Firelands.

Grace Kingery (So)
North Ridgeville
In their second victory over Berea-Midpark, Kingery finished with 23 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and five blocks.

Other Notable Performances

Brooke Laub (Jr), Avon
In Wednesdays’ back and forth contest with Berea-Midpark, the Eagles junior point guard scored 19 points, dished out 3 assists and had one steal and one block.

Lauren Lantow (Fr), Berea-Midpark
With Berea-Midpark going 1-1 on the week, Lantow averaged 15.5 points, eight rebounds, two assists and two steals for the Titans.

Danielle Cameron (Jr), Olmsted Falls
In two wins over Amherst Steele and Avon Lake last week, the junior guard averaged 18 points, 4.5 rebounds and two steals a game.

Male Basketball Player of the Week
Jordan Koury (Sr)
Amherst Steele
Koury has helped the Comets to a 9-3 mark in 2022.  In Amherst Steele’s win over Olmsted Falls, the senior shooting guard scored 20 points and was 4-of-9 from beyond the arc while grabbing five rebounds.  In an overtime loss to Elyria, Koury had a stat line of 18 points, six rebounds and was 4-of-5 from the free throw line.

Other Notable Performances

Jack Arnold (Sr), Berea-Midpark
In Berea-Midpark’s wins over Avon and North Ridgeville last week, Arnold shot 13-of-18 from the field.  The senior averaged 15 points, three rebounds and 2.5 steals.

Ryan Runser (Jr), Midview
The Middies went 2-0 last week with wins over Avon and North Ridgeville.  Runser scored 16 points and had five assist against the Eagles.  The junior finished with 19 points and five more assists against the Rangers.
