Avon Lake secured the 2021 Southwestern Conference Championship in boys cross country, tying Amherst Steele with 62 team points but winning the tie breaker with senior Mathew Kuban’s 29th place finish.
Amherst Steele’s sophomore Luke Bowlsby earned the individual Southwestern Conference Championship, completing the 5K race in 16:58.94, ten seconds faster than teammate Ty Perez who finished second with a time of 17:09.59. Thomas Coble from Berea-Midpark crossed the finish line third with a time of 17:28.24.
Berea-Midpark finished third with 87 team points. Avon (103) finished in fourth place with Midview (106) rounding out the top five teams.
