Avon High School used its depth to capture first place at 2021 Southwestern Conference Boys Golf Tournament Thursday (October 7) at Pine Hills Golf Club in Hinckley.
The Eagles top four golfers—Brenton Dill (80), Hunter McCourt (80), Nolan King (81) and Jack Gerborg (83)—combined for a 324 to edge out second place Olmsted Falls but just one stroke. The Bulldogs finished with three golfers—Dylan Sowers (77), Ben Scheef (81) and Aaron Katitus (81)—in the top-10 and compiled 325 team points.
Avon Lake, which was led by runner-up Danny Donegan (76) and Cole Cartwright (82), placed third as a team with 327 points. Amherst Steele, fueled by individual medalist Ryan Yoder’s 75, tied Midview with 333 points. The Middies were paced by a pair of top-10 finishers in Bryan Stone (80) and Michael Ebosh (82).
North Ridgeville High School (354) finished sixth, while Berea-Midpark High School (398) and Elyria High School (406) completed the team standings.
