Following soccer games on September 6th – September 12th the boys and girls soccer players of the week for the Southwestern Conference were announced this afternoon. Below is this week’s honorees:
Female Soccer Player of the Week
Bella Antonio (Jr)
North Ridgeville
North Ridgeville’s Bella Antonio had a big night against SWC opponent Olmsted Falls. The junior forward scored two goals and assisted on another in the Rangers’ win over Olmsted Falls.
Other Notable Performances
Jordyn Bena (Sr) , Amherst Steele
Bena scored twice, including the game winner as the Comets defeated Midview in conference play.
Sam Smearman (Sr), Berea-Midpark
The senior goal keeper recorded 15 saves in a back and forth battle with Avon Lake.
Male Soccer Player of the Week
Alex Pennington (Sr)
Amherst Steele
Comets Center Midfielder Alex Pennington recorded three assists and a goal with Amherst Steele finishing the week 1-1.
Other Notable Performances
Matt Strohmenger (Sr), Olmsted Falls
The senior defender helped anchor a defense that put together two shutouts for the Bulldogs on the week against North Ridgeville and Solon.
