Following games on April 19th – April 25th, the baseball player of the week for the Southwestern Conference was announced this afternoon. Below is this week’s honoree:
Baseball Player of the Week
Brady Compton (Sr)
Berea-Midpark
Compton struck out nine on his way to a five inning no-hitter victory against North Olmsted as the Titans defeated the Eagles 10-0.
Other Notable Performances
Ryan Starr (Sr), Avon
Starr went the distance again last week for the Eagles as the senior pitcher gave up only 5 hits and struck out ten in Avon’s victory over Amherst.
Dominic Poltrone (Jr), Avon Lake
Avon Lake’s Poltrone was 9-of-20 from the plate last week, with a home run, a double and nine runs batted in for the Shoremen. The junior pitched twice, picking up two wins on seven innings pitched, giving up two hits, one run and striking out 15.
Anthony Lyons (Sr), Olmsted Falls
Lyons was 6-of-13 last week, with five runs batted in. The Bulldog shortstop had four stolen bases and two runs scored.
