Following games on February 8th-14th, the boys basketball player of the week for the Southwestern Conference was announced this afternoon. Below is this week’s honoree:
Boys Basketball Player of the Week
Niko Pappas (Sr)
Avon
The Avon senior averaged 17 points and five assists per game for the week. Against North Ridgeville, Pappas dropped 20 points and had six rebounds, six assists and six steals in the game. In Avon’s contest with Westlake, the Eagle’s guard scored 14 points to go along with his four assists and three steals.
Other Notable Performances
George Gotsis (Jr), Amherst Steele
Against North Ridgeville last Friday, Gotsis had 12 points, five rebounds and hit two big free throws in the last seven seconds to seal the SWC championship for the Amherst Comets. Last Tuesday against Westlake the junior forward had 12 points, eight rebounds, and four steals.
